I’ve shot a bunch of photos using Fomapan, which is an expensive film that isn’t half bad once you know its quirks. I decided to take a look at another budget offering, Kentemere 400. It is made by Ilford, so I expected it be similar to the Ilford FP4+ and HP5+ lines of film.
That is pretty much what I got. I shot the photos at box speed and got pretty good results. The other plus with the Kentmere films is that it is actually cheaper than the Foma films. The Kentmere 400 held up pretty nicely at 400 ISO, unlike Fomapan 400. Overall, it’s a pretty good budget black and white film. I think this will be my go to for cheap film from now on. I’ve also went ahead and bought a few rolls of Kentmere 100 after I saw the results here, so we’ll see those soon.
